Not a massive improvement over the MD version, but it´s slightly faster and tougher - and a fiver cheaper. Great fun to play.

In this sequel to Lethal Enforcers you are the sheriff of a town set in the old Wild West. Using the control pad or Konami's own Justifier lightgun, you'll be taking out outlaws who are robbing banks and kidnapping innocents. You have the opportunity to upgrade and keep you gun, as long as you don't shoot the people you are trying to save. The action is usually shown on a single screen with enemies „popping out“ from various sections. If you do not shoot them in time they will either shoot or throw various weapons at you. You will lose energy if they hit you or you hit an innocent civilian. www.Mobygames.com
The sequel to Lethal Enforcers takes you into the wild west. It's good to see that a few of the minor flaws from the original have been fixed. There's some limited interaction with the background in the form of breakable signs, windows, bottles and the like, some of which reveal weapon pick-ups when destroyed. These also stick with the western theme, though not all can be re-loaded (including the frankly ludicrous cannon). If you just clip an enemy with your first shot they will flinch and keep shooting, whilst head and body shots will put them down in one go. Whilst a ranking system is still in place, shooting innocent victims now docks your health, rather than instantly sending you back down the ladder. Similarly, there's now no level you must reach before taking on the next stage, meaning you won't get sent back through the same levels over and over. Practically bullet-proof end of level bosses are still here, in all their projectile throwing annoyance, but at least this time there's an energy bar for them so you know how far you have to go. Bonus stages are still present, this time taking the form of a fairground-style blast all the bottles in 10 seconds game. Digitised speech adds atmosphere, but hearing the same few taunts over and over - and sometimes the same one as much a six times in a row - quickly becomes annoying. Just as the original was several times tougher without a gun, the same applies here. There is a real sticking point at the end of the third level where you are in a quick draw contest against three enemies. They can only be shot when they are firing at you, and getting the reticule across the screen in the correct, randomly determined, order is nigh on impossible and can bring an enjoyable game to a quick end. If you've got a gun then this is an excellent shooter, and once again the Mega-CD version looks and sounds better than the cartridge version. Under the blurb on the back of the box it says „If you own the previous version of „Lethal Enforcers“, please buy the software only of the new version“. This is very odd as I've never seen Lethal Enforcers 2 packaged with the gun - only as the standalone game. www.sega-mega-cd-library.co.uk
